USA itineraries: 1, 2 and 3 weeks

The most common mistake on a first trip to America is trying to see it all. The country is as big as Europe: New York to Los Angeles is a 5-hour flight. The best trips pick one region — two at most, linked by a flight — and give each stop enough time.

Questions travellers ask

How many days do you need to visit the USA?

Two weeks is the ideal first trip, for one region. One week works for a city and its surroundings.

Can you see the East and West Coast in two weeks?

Yes, with a flight between them, but you will only scratch each. Choose one city in the East and one western road trip.
