Why we picked it

We would book it to live inside the Market for a few days: coffee on the rooftop deck while the ferries cross Elliott Bay, the stalls before the crowds, and dinner at Café Campagne downstairs. The recent renovation brought the rooms up to date, and a water-view room adds the Olympic Mountains on a clear day. It is still owned by a group of partners, most of them original investors from 1985.

Hotels in Seattle: your questions

Where should I stay in Seattle for a first visit?

Downtown, near Pike Place Market: you can walk to the market, the waterfront and the ferries, and take the light rail to the airport. Inn at the Market is inside the Market itself; Mayflower Park is a few blocks up the hill at Westlake Center. Read our Seattle travel guide

How far ahead should I book a hotel in Seattle?

For July and August, the driest and busiest months, book as soon as your dates are fixed, especially for water-view rooms at Inn at the Market. Cruise season and big events also fill downtown hotels.

When is the best time to visit Seattle?

June to September, when the city is dry and sunny; July and August are the driest. From October to May it is grey and drizzly but rarely cold. When to visit Seattle

How do I get from Sea-Tac airport to these hotels?

The Link light rail runs from Sea-Tac to downtown in about 40 minutes, and Mayflower Park is easily reached by light rail. Inn at the Market can book a town car that meets you at baggage claim; by car, the drive takes about 25 minutes from I-5.

Do I need a car in Seattle, and where do I park?

Not in the city: light rail, buses, the Monorail and your feet cover it. Rent a car for Mount Rainier or Olympic. Both hotels offer valet parking with in-and-out privileges; at Inn at the Market, vehicles must be under 6'6" high.

Which of the two hotels suits families?

Mayflower Park: its two-queen rooms sleep four and take a rollaway, and cribs are available, though there are no connecting rooms. Inn at the Market suits couples best: most rooms have one king bed.

Can I book these hotels directly?

Yes. The See prices button under Inn at the Market opens the hotel's official website. For Mayflower Park Hotel it opens Trip.com, one of our booking partners. Both open in a new tab.
